Job summary

This role is a fixed-term role - 15 months. There is potential for an additional 12-month role to be offered but this is to be confirmed.

UHBW are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Medical Illustration team!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Medical Illustration team at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Medical Illustration provides a comprehensive clinical and non-clinical photography, video, and illustration and graphics service across University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Medical Illustration team in taking clinical and non-clinical photographs across UHBW and Somerset. This post involves communicating effectively with medical illustration staff, patients and healthcare professionals to help the team provide the best service possible.

You should be a well-organised person who can work well under pressure with the ability to prioritise your own workload within a team.

As a developing Medical Illustration service, the post holder will be expected to be flexible, proactive and embrace change positively as and when the service develops.

In addition to working across Bristol and Weston, this role will involve travelling and working in Somerset (including Taunton and Yeovil).

Essential

  • Reference based evidence of extensive practical experience in clinical photography and specialist photography of a consistently high standard

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering telemedicine/teledermatology

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent standard of IT skills. Ability to use the following software packages: Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Thorough understanding of consent and confidentiality issues
  • Highly developed hand/eye coordination for specialist imaging techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to prioritise. Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to view high volumes of images using display screen and use photographic equipment which will require a high level of concentration
  • Must work well as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and develop CPD
  • Attention to detail

  • Possess a degree in photography or related media subject or and equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Eligible for AHCS registration
  • You will be required to travel to other locations in the Southwest. You must have a driving license.

  • Willingness to use of own car/vehicle
