Job summary

HEART FAILURE CARDIOLOGIST

A Consultant Cardiologist, with a specific interest in Heart Failure and Pacing, is required for substantive appointment at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new post to meet increasing demand and ensure delivery of safe, effective, high quality and timely care for the growing number of patients with heart failure alongside the need for complex cardiac device implantation and follow up. The post will also provide support to core cardiology services including ward round cover to support patient flow and decision-making, clinics and take part in the non-invasive on-call rota.

The Bristol and Weston areas offer great access to high quality schooling and recreational facilities with easy access to the whole of the South West.

Applicants should have MRCP (UK) or equivalent and be on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register or be within 6 months of their CCT date at interview.

Main duties of the job

This is a new post to further enhance the care of patients with heart failure at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will join the existing two heart failure consultant cardiologists and heart failure specialist nurses in outreach services to the acute medical team in the Bristol Royal Infirmary, reviewing patients with heart failure and heart muscle disease in the Bristol Heart Institute and supporting the Sirona Community Heart Failure service. The post will also involve 2 sessions of pacing and one session supporting the device clinic with heart failure management.

The post is whole-time (10PA) with full range of general cardiology duties and clinical sessions in all aspects of heart failure and pacing.
