Job summary
Do you have experience in mechanical/electrical work? Do you hold City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualifications? Have you completed an apprenticeship and are looking for the next step?
The Estates Maintenance Department are recruiting for a Shift Engineer based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. You will be required to work in workshops, plant rooms, service ducts and equipment enclosures. In addition you will be expected to work in wards, theatres, pathology rooms and laboratories, together with mortuaries and autopsy rooms.
Ideally, you should have experience of Electrical/Mechanical maintenance, preferably in complex large estates, as well as having experience of maintaining a wide variety of plant and equipment.
This role will involve working a three week rolling rota, where the starting hourly rate will be:
- £16.72 per hour for nights and Saturdays
- £20.57 per hour for Sundays and bank holidays
You will also earn out of hour enhancements and have the opportunity to work paid overtime!
The shift pattern is:
- Week 1 - Day Shifts
- Week 2 - Late Shifts
- Week 3 - Night Shifts
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include:
- Carry out wide range of mechanical and electrical repairs as directed by Supervisor or deputy.
- Undertake routine maintenance (PPM) of electrical/mechanical service systems.
- Fault find on electrical and mechanical equipment and associated control gear
- To undertake further training as and when required.
- To work within the Estates Department Health & Safety policies
- Pass on knowledge to apprentices, assistants and work experience students.
- You must have a current driving licence and be prepared to drive a Trust vehicle.
