Job summary
Applications are invited for the full time post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology, with commitment to the General (Internal) Medicine on-call rota, at ST3 or equivalent level. The post holder will be based at Weston General Hospital and will have the opportunity to develop their career in Gastroenterology, with a commitment from the team to assist them in becoming independent in UGI endoscopy within 12 months. Supervised training activities and attendance at regional teaching will be entirely identical to that of our Gastroenterology Specialty Registrar but lacking only a training number. The post is advertised as a permanent contract however a 1-2 year fixed term contract would also be considered.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will develop special interests to extend the spectrum of the gastroenterology services offered at Weston, and support services currently being developed in the department. The post holder will undertake a total of two general gastroenterology clinics per week and support the endoscopy service with both upper and lower endoscopy procedures. Weston General Hospital is JAG accredited and is proud to have retained this for over 10 years. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional service. There will be inpatient responsibility for the gastroenterology ward on a 1:3 rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota (1:6) plus the G(I)M on-call rota out of hours (1:11).
