Job summary
Applications are invited for the full time post of Clinical Fellow/Specialty Doctor in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) for 6months from 7th February 2024 - 7th August 2024. The successful applicant will join a dynamic, large and welcoming multidisciplinary team to provide inpatient and outpatient care for patients at Bristol Adult CF Centre, the tertiary referral centre for CF based at Bristol Royal Infirmary. The post provides excellent training and experience in CF and respiratory medicine, whilst offering experience in clinical microbiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology and palliative care, and developing skills in communication and MDT working. The post also includes responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development and audit.
No specialist experience or knowledge of cystic fibrosis medicine is required - training is provided on the job. The service is led by highly engaged and available consultants, and the job offers the chance to work in a genuinely multidisciplinary environment. The post is open to post-Foundation training doctors of any grade - it has been held in the past by post-F2, post-CMT and post-CCT (pre-consultant) grade doctors and responsibilities will be tailored to the individual. The hours of work are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. On call is not part of the post; options for locum out of hours work are available. Applications for part time or job share will be considered.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
The post holder will show commitment to the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service in helping to ensure that the best clinical care is delivered in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) setting.
Teaching
On occasions, the post-holder may be asked to give lectures and participate in clinical training to undergraduates, postgraduates and healthcare professionals.
Research and Effectiveness
All research must be performed in accordance with the Research Governance Framework. In performing research the Consultant will be supported by the Trust's active R&D Office and the pan Bristol Research and Development Support Unit, which provide high-quality training and guidance as well as support for individual projects.
Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance
The successful appointee is expected to take a full role in the delivery of the Trust's wide agenda for Governance. Managerial
The management responsibility of the post holder will be to the Head of Division via the Lead Doctor for Cystic Fibrosis, who in turn is responsible to the Chief Executive and the Trust Board
