We are looking for an outstanding individual to job share as the Director of Nursing/Assistant Chief Nurse for Children's Services. Based in the heart of this vibrant and culturally diverse city, the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is the tertiary paediatric provider for the South West and for some services South Wales, and the only secondary provider of children's services in Bristol. With a workforce of c. 1800, 180 beds and an annual budget of c. £100 million, we cover a comprehensive range of children's inpatient specialties across Bristol and Weston. We are a designated Major Trauma Centre and one of only four nationally designated Paediatric Burns Care Centres.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Nursing is a core member of the Divisional Board, working as part of the triumvirate with the Clinical Chair and Divisional Director, providing nursing leadership across Children's Services. You will be responsible for developing and implementing key parts of the Divisional strategy, as well as supporting the Chief Nurse and Midwife in the Trust wide delivery of corporate nursing and quality objectives.

This role requires a dynamic, confident nurse leader who can shape nursing practice by utilising excellent leadership, influencing and motivational skills as well as generating new ideas that will drive forward the nursing agenda within the Division and Trust. Excellent communication skills are required, as is the need to be flexible to adapt to the requirements of the role.

You will need to be a Registered Children's Nurse, educated to Masters Degree level or able to evidence working towards it, with further evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post. Recent nurse management/ leadership experience at a senior level within an acute setting is also essential.
