Job summary

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist to provide pharmacy homecare and procurement services across the South West.

The post will be hosted by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, but will support all NHS Trusts in the South West agreement to provide enhanced homecare and procurement services across the region.

The role will form part of a small team with Quality Assurance, Data Analyst and Administrator colleagues, delivering focused work agreed at a regional level, but in line with National strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job

o Working in conjunction with regional NHS hospitals to provide assurance of the safe procurement of medicines which sit outside the scope of the Commercial Medicines Unit and NHSE contractingprocesses.o Providing support for regional primary care procurement functions.o Providing regional activity analysis influencing national objectives such as audit of wholesaler performance and national eCommerce uptake.o Working in conjunction with regional NHS organisations to switch homecare suppliers when necessary, conduct associated compliance audits and financial analysis.o Providing training for individual Trusts to optimise the use of Exend Plus and future digital enhancements.o Delivery of training, such as core content of the internationally recognised Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) curriculum, in turn promoting best practice aligned to national agendas.o Attendance at SPM sub-groups such as clinical pharmacy managers and MSO networks.o Ensure all work undertaken minimises risk and maximises patient safety associated with the purchase of medicines and services.o Keep up to date with appropriate regulations pertaining to procurement of medicines, including knowledge of Public Procurement regulations, Good Distribution Practice and Good Clinical Practice.o Implement best practice standards for procurement of medicines in the NHS through the development of guidance, audit, training, mentoring and advice.
