Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian who is seeking exciting development opportunities to join our team!

You will be joining the adult dietetic team which provides a service for our Weston site within the University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Weston General Hospital is located close to the seafront of the vibrant seaside town of Weston Super Mare. It is a busy district general hospital and the friendly dietetic team is comprised of approximately 10 dietitians and dietetic assistants, with on-site secretarial support.

The Bristol and Weston region includes a diverse and multicultural university city, vibrant coastal towns and beautiful countryside, with an extensive range of leisure facilities and pursuits to suit everyone. In addition, it is well connected with easy access via road and rail to the rest of the South West, South Wales and other major cities.

You would be joining us at an exciting time as Weston General Hospital evolves to meet the needs of the local population through the "Healthy Weston Programme". This will provide a focus on becoming a centre of surgical excellence, significantly increasing the number of planned operations each year as well as continuing to develop into a centre of excellence for older peoples care.

Main duties of the job

This is a specialist post within the dietetic service at Weston General Hospital. You will provide the outpatient dietetic service to patients with diabetes who are cared for within the secondary care diabetes service. This includes an insulin pump clinic, gestational diabetes MDT and Dietetic led Diabetes clinic each week. There will also be a monthly consultant led Diabetes pump clinic to review the management of complex patients.

You will work closely with the Band 7 Senior Specialist Diabetes Dietitian at Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Endocrinology Consultants at Weston General Hospital. Your continued professional development will be guided and facilitated by our team of experienced clinicians with identified training needs fully supported.

The department offers training to A, B and C placement students from the University of Plymouth. Once you have completed appropriate supervisory skills training and are settled in your role, you will be involved in the clinical teaching and assessment of students on placement.

Our innovative approach to healthcare is reflected in our bank holiday and weekend service. Each staff member delivering 2 bank holiday dates and a weekend day every 4 weeks with a corresponding lieu day.
