Ward Clerk - Seahorse Intensive Care Unit

Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Ward Clerk (22.5 hours p/w - Friday, Saturday & Sunday) to our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The role of the ward clerk is vital and you will play a role in the smooth running of what is a very important, sensitive and busy ward. A friendly and welcoming demeanour and calmness under pressure are essential, flexibility and a can-do attitude are also vital as you will need to be approachable and keen to learn any new processes on what is a critically important, highly supportive and team-focused environment.

Main duties of the job
Responsibilities will include acting as the first point of contact for the ward, greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients using Careflow & Phillips, liaising with all clinicians and colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely stay with the ward, and sending out patient discharge letters, attending daily board round meeting, organising parental accommodation, ensuring parents and visitors have parking permits, reporting on Agility & MEMO. The maintenance of paper and electronic records is also a key element. The right candidate will be responsible for setting high standards of patient care by enacting the Trust's values at all times.
