Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply business intelligence skills to a clinical service at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) in the Pharmacy Informatics team.

The pharmacy department is currently undertaking a project to implement electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) functionality, which will come with a large dataset resulting in unprecedented insights into medicines management across the Trust. This role will be central to fulfilling the potential of this information as well as other systems the pharmacy department utilises.

UHBW is situated in the centre of a vibrant and buzzing city, well known for its restaurants, culture, harbour side and sporting activities balanced by easy access to the motorway network and airport links.

Main duties of the job

Your day to day duties will include but may not be limited to:

o Interprets complex data from clinical systems and develops data structures to support reporting.

o Uses data resources to develop and support the delivery of performance and operational reporting.

o Works cooperatively within the Pharmacy Informatics Team to cover a shared workload in supporting and maintaining existing reporting, including time-critical requirements.

o Works independently on the development and innovation of new reporting solutions from clinical systems.

o Leads on the supervision of data and reporting processes. Acts independently in the troubleshooting and rectification of any issues.

o Uses a good understanding of NHS reporting to deliver both nationally prescribed and locally agreed requirements in the hospital Trust.

o Is able to use a flexible approach to absorb unplanned reporting tasks.

o Develops new dashboard and reporting services to drive clinical prioritisation and improve the efficiency of delivery of patient care within and outside of pharmacy department.

o Uses initiative to advise on and develop intuitive operational reporting services for the clinical workforce.

  • Use of Microsoft Office in a work environment
  • Detailed knowledge of handling data in a situation where data quality is a major priority
  • Demonstrable experience of producing Patient Activity Information statutory reporting in an NHS Analytical role
  • Knowledge of the NHS and of Hospital Trust Patient administration systems
  • Use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word in a work environment

Desirable

  • Experience of multidisciplinary health service information needs

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
