Job summary
The successful candidate will provide medical cover for our inpatients in the respiratory ward and see referrals from other teams. They will also take part in outpatient clinics. They will be expected to deliver a keen and active role in day-to-day management of patients.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our clinical team for a 12 month post between August 2023 and August 2024. Applicants will be expected to provide SpR-level (ST3+) medical cover for our inpatients in the department of respiratory medicine, working as part of a multi-professional team. They will also take part in outpatient clinics and see ward referrals from other teams. The successful candidate will work within a team of 3 respiratory SpRs on the ward. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the General Medicine on call rota which currently consists of 16 registrars.

- Demonstrates an understanding of clinical governance
- Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of period of training
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in a range of medical procedures as an indication of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

- Evidence of a formal training course in teaching methods

- Evidence of good multidisciplinary team working and leadership supported by multi-source feedback or other workplace-based assessments
- The ability to practice independently under consultant supervision and supervise and teach junior medical staff
- Evidence of competence in management of medical emergencies and in-patients through continuous work-based assessments, portfolio evidence, including log book documentation if applicable
- Evidence of competence to work without direct supervision where appropriate including performing Lumbar Punctures, Chest Drain insertion, Ascitic Drain insertion
