Job summary
To provide an efficient and effective patient-focused administrative service for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team in the Cancer Institute based in BHOC.
Main duties of the job
There may be occasions when you will be required to work in other departments within the Centre
Clinical Nurse Specialist Support
- Send referrals to Macmillan Support Team
- Print out clinic lists for CNS team, prior to clinic session, and manage actions generated from clinic list review
- Manage CNS diary and shared drive including appointments with Medical Representatives etc
- First port of call for telephone queries for CNS team.
- Typing of all CNS clinic and correspondence letters and filing
- Input data collected by CNS team

Essential
- 5 GCSEs level (or equivalent) in English Language and/ or Maths
- IT skills or qualifications to ECDL/ RSA standard
- Word processing and audio typing qualification RSA III or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- NHS experience in administrative and clerical departments/ or similar secretarial/ administrative experience in a busy customer focussed department
- Experience of dealing with the public both on the telephone and in public
- Experience of working as part of a team and on own initiative
Desirable
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical record procedures and hospital information systems
- Experience of the patient administration system (Medway)
- Experience of working with the Somerset Cancer Register
