Job summary

We are looking for an Apprentice Physiotherapist to join us at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Posts are available in both Adult Therapy Services and the Childrens Hospital.

Over 4 years you will work towards gaining a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree from University West of England (UWE) using remote academic & work-based learning. You will undertaking the day-to-day role of a Therapy technician at UHBW. You will be fully supported to develop your skills over the duration of the apprenticeship. Following successful graduation, you will be able to register with the UK statutory regulator (Health Care Professions Council, HCPC) as a Physiotherapist.

If you are not a British citizen, you need to meet the following criteria tobe eligible for funding

  • Been in UK min 3yrs
  • Right to remain visa for the duration of the course - 4yrs

Main duties of the job

On the job training will be provided in the Adult Therapy Services by the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams to enable you to meet the main duties of a Therapy Technician. These duties are to help the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to support the delivery of effective treatment and rehabilitation plans to enable patients to recover from illness and injury and be safely discharged from hospital. Within the Children's' Hospital you would work as a Physiotherapy Assistant.

In Adult Services You will contribute to a 6 or 7-day service working one weekend in four. You will also contribute to a Bank Holiday service working up to two Bank Holidays per year. This requirement will be different within the paediatric role as per the amended Job Description.

  • GCSE: Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English).
  • Recent Study: We require evidence of recent assessed academic study within the last three years
  • Tariff points 128 - Study in Biology or Human Biology
  • Level 4/5 study within 10yrs considered
