Job summary

UHBW are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Medical Illustration team!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Medical Illustration team at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Medical Illustration provides a comprehensive clinical and non-clinical photography and video service across University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset.

*This role is aBand 4 linked progression to Band 5 (Fixed Term contract initially). After completing the relevant qualification and registration with the AHCS, you will automatically progress to a permanent Band 5 registered Clinical photographer. This role is a training role and the team will support the successful applicant in obtaining their qualification and providing them with as much experience as possible.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Medical Illustration team in taking clinical and non-clinical photographs across UHBW. This post involves communicating effectively with medical illustration staff, patients and healthcare professionals to help the team provide the best service possible.

You should be a well-organised person who can work well under pressure with the ability to prioritise your own workload within a team.

As a developing Medical Illustration service, the post holder will be expected to be flexible, proactive and embrace change positively as and when the service develops.

  • Reference-based evidence of extensive practical experience in photography of a consistently high standard.

  • Highly developed hand/eye coordination for specialist imaging techniques.
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to view high volumes of images using display screen and use photographic equipment which will require a high level of concentration

  • Experience of video production
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Possess a degree in photography or related media subject or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Meet entry requirements for undergraduate/postgraduate course
  • You will be required to travel to other locations in the South West. You must have a driving license
