Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated, experienced consultant to join our gastroenterology team. We are looking for someone to cover this post on a permanent contract but we are also happy to offer a 1-2 year fixed term position. This is a substantive appointment for a consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. The successful applicant will join a team of 2 gastroenterologists based at Weston General Hospital.
The Department of Medicine comprises of Consultants with special interests in respiratory medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, diabetes and endocrinology, and care of the elderly. Whilst this post is not an approved training post it is recognised by the Royal College of Physicians of London for the MRCP (UK) examinations. There is a firm commitment to continuing professional development and the opportunity to participate in specialist clinics and procedure lists. On site we have an Academy which provides up-to-date IT facilities and library services.
Main duties of the job
The post requires independent upper and lower endoscopy, outpatient clinics, and an inpatient responsibility for the gastroenterology ward on a 1:3 rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota plus GIM on call rota. Accreditation in Gastroenterology and general Internal medicine is required, although applicants within 6 months of gaining CCT are also encouraged to apply.
