An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic Digital Learning Designer with a keen interest in the development of e-learning solutions and blended learning approaches using a wide variety of technologies. You will take a lead on agreed projects that deliver the strategic objectives of the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) in South West England.

This post is a unique opportunity for an individual with experience in the use of digital technologies to enhance the learning and development of the research workforce across the four local CRNs of Thames Valley & South Midlands, Wessex, West of England and South West Peninsula. This post will be key to ensuring the success of the collaboration.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is funded through the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) coordinates and supports the delivery of clinical research in the NHS and the wider health and social care environment, and supports patients, the public, and health and care organisations across England to participate in high-quality research. This role is hosted by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) on behalf of the network.

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to the development of a more effective knowledge sharing platform using the NIHR IT infrastructure, primarily the NIHR Hub (Google Workspace) and NIHR Learn (our Learning Management System).
  • Liaise with sponsors and subject matters experts to present and identify suitable digital learning options, which may include specialist and complex digital technologies.
  • Scope, create, implement, promote, deliver and maintain learning solutions using cost-effective approaches that reflect the needs and preferences of learners and organisational priorities including, though not limited to, e-learning courses.
  • Communicate complex information (e.g. scientific concepts, regulatory requirements), working with subject matter experts to present learning materials in accessible and engaging ways. This may involve those new to research and/or members of the public.
  • This role will be considered for remote working or for hybrid working with an office base in central Bristol.
