Job summary

We have a very exciting new Physiotherapist job role working within the Critical Care units at both University Hospital Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust, and North Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

The development of a Severe Acute Respiratory Failure Unit in Bristol which is located at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) site but co-run with both acute trust has allowed for the development of the new rotational post across both acute sites.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for anyone with a desire to specialise in Critical Care, as you will gain experience in a wider range of clinical presentations than would not be on offer at a single site. The post would be hosted by UHBW with 9 monthly rotations across both sites.

Main duties of the job

Band 6 critical care specialist Physiotherapist rotating across the UHBW and North Bristol Trust (NBT) critical care units. The post holder will provide specialist Physiotherapy input into multiple specialities including Severe Acute Respiratory Failure (SARF / ECMO) patients, Thoracic, Upper & Lower GI, hepatobillary, Cardiac, Neurosciences, Trauma & Elective Orthopaedics and Burns & Plastics.

The post-holder will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing specialist Physiotherapy assessment and treatment, and managing their own patient caseload within the Critical Care Speciality. They will be responsible for the mentorship and development of band 5 staff, Technical Instructors and Students. They will have support from the team leads, clinical specialists and pathway leads within the teams.

The post holder will be required to work regular weekends and Bank Holidays and be part of the Respiratory on-call service.
