Are you an experienced children's nurse seeking a new challenge, and the opportunity to provide tailored specific care to adolescents in a purpose-built setting?
Join us on Apollo 35 at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), and you'll be part of our dynamic, passionate and supportive team in our bespoke 14 bedded ward for young people aged 11 to 16. We care for young people with a variety of medical, mental health, oncological and surgical conditions.
Apollo 35 is one of very few bespoke adolescent wards in the UK. You will gain exposure to a multitude of specialities and will develop skills in surgical and orthopaedic nursing care, the care of the oncology patient and chemotherapy delivery skills. You will be supported to care for young people who need hospital care due to their mental ill health and an exposure to all the medical specialities.
Our patients are a mix between long term and short term patients, some we get to know over many years and support them in their transition to adult services. Main duties of the job
In this role you will use your leadership skills and clinical experience to actively support the sister/ charge nurse and assist in safe management of the ward.
You will help to promote a working environment that encourages learning, and support and supervise teaching of more junior staff, including both nurses and other members of the multi- disciplinary team (MDT).
As an experienced practitioner your responsibilities will include assessing and implementing patient care for a group of patient without direct supervision. Alongside managing care in accordance with policies and protocols, and seeking advice from the MDT as necessary
