Job summary

The South West Neonatal ODN is a dedicated regional team supporting delivery of reginal neonatal services. The post holder will be a key part of the team and will undertake a variety of tasks to support the governance responsibilities of the Network. They will be expected to be proactive and to take initiative individually and as part of a team.

The post holder will work closely with the Lead Nurse for Governance & Quality and the Data Manager & Analyst on managing the evolving neonatal governance processes for the Region. The post holder will be required to undertake early analysis, making initial judgement and producing regular and ad hoc reports to inform a wide range of regional stakeholders of performance and governance positions.

The post holder will require excellent IT skills including proficient use of Excel and strong attention to detail. Experience of using the Neonatal IT system Badgernet is desirable, or a strong willingness to learn will be required. Dynamic communication skills are vital as the post holder will be communicating with key stakeholders from across the Region and country.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing high quality, efficient governance reporting processes to weekly, monthly and quarterly timescales. This includes coordinating the Network's reporting of incidents and exceptions to the regional Care Pathway.
  • Receiving and collating statements and associated information for the purposes of monitoring quality.
  • Coordinating regular communication with service providers across the region, requiring discretion and dynamic communication skills such as negotiation, motivation and persuasion.
  • Compiling and maintaining clinical governance spreadsheets and reports.
  • Developing protocols and project plans for own work area, alongside the Data Manager and Lead Nurse for Governance.
  • Preparing ad hoc and regular data reports for a range of audiences.
  • Accurately unputting data, performing early data analysis and undertaking initial judgement.
  • Producing reports for the Network's quarterly governance meetings, capturing and acting on outcomes from the meeting.
