Job summary

Thepostholder is responsibleforassessingandmanagingtheresources needed to deliver the local portfolio, under the line management of the Research Delivery Manager. They will be responsible for supporting the day to day management of these resources across multiple NHS providers. They will also be responsible for monitoring and active performance management against national objectives, escalating issues to the RDM and highlighting to senior leadership within the LCRN where appropriate.

The Assistant Research Delivery Manager will work closely with the Local Specialty Research Leads for their portfolio of studies. A detailed understanding is required of the delivery of clinical research studies, enabling them to review use of resource across many individual units/organisations to highlight to senior leadership within the LCRN where change/development is needed.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as an ambassador for NIHR CRN and promote the aims and objectives of the CRN.
  • Be the accountable person for all operational (i.e., non-clinical) matters relevant to the division, reporting successes and concerns to the RDM or SLT as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership to the division staff, by setting clear aims, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Recruit where necessary and line manage a multi-professional team able to deliver the local portfolio. This will involve direct line management and matrix management of staff.
  • Identify the key deliverables, milestones, deadlines and resources required for the LCRN contract and performance and operating framework and be accountable for delivery against the agreed annual plans, escalating to RDM or SLT where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of the LCRN Annual Plan.
  • Define and develop the infrastructure required to deliver the portfolio of studies escalating issues to the RDM/SLT as appropriate.
  • Identify develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with relevant partners, and stakeholders, to include patients, carers, public within the LCRN area
