Job summary

The Study Support Service helps researchers set up and deliver high quality research in both the NHS and the wider health and social care environment, across England.

The Clinical Research Network (CRN) West of England Study Support Service Facilitator is part of the team that provide the Study Support Service and Business Intelligence functions. The main role is to act as the single point of contact for the Study Support Service, coordinated across CRN West of England.

The post holder will work closely with the Study Support Service Manager on a daily basis and will be based in the CRN West of England central office at Whitefriars, Lewins Mead, Bristol and from home.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Study Support Service Manager to deliver the varied Study Support Service functions within the CRN West of England. The use of databases, spreadsheets and internet/intranet is a key aspect of the role.
  • Help to coordinate Study Support Service across CRN West of England by putting in place robust office systems and procedures to ensure that Study Support Service is delivered effectively.
  • Act as first point of contact for emails to Study Support Service mailbox. This involves receiving, triaging and prioritising incoming queries in a polite and professional manner, re-directing to members of CRN staff or using initiative to deal with queries where appropriate.
  • Act as a single point of contact for research staff to ensure consistency in early communications. Establish at the earliest opportunity the needs of Investigators.
  • Ensure that Chief Investigators within the CRN West of England are supported through the complex regulatory environment in order to create a positive research experience and encourage local investigators to participate in NIHR research
  • Maintain up to date contacts lists of Study Support Service users.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of tools to support effective record management, including local databases to track Chief Investigator and researcher communications, information systems to record Study Support Service data and support information sharing, financial management and performance management.
