2 Locum Consultants in Care of the Elderly

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the care of the elderly/stroke team at the BRI.
The post holders will support the care of complex, frail elderly patients on our re-established Older Persons Assessment Unit plus our core care of the elderly wards.. The job plan may include up to one outpatient clinic per week which could include rapid access slots.
Our friendly and dynamic team consists of 14 consultants and we have established services in movement disorders, syncope, stroke, ortho-geriatrics and bone health. We also have newly established and rapidly developing services in front door frailty and cardiology liaison (PULSE). We also have close links with the University of Bristol for those that are interested in education or research.

Main duties of the job
University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint 2 Locum Consultants with an interest in Geriatric medicine. These are full time or parttime replacement posts for up to 12 months - applicants wishing to work as part of a job share or less than full time are encouraged to apply. The post will be based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.The post holder will support the care of complex, frail elderly patients on our Older Persons Admissions Unit (OPAU) and on one of the core care of the elderly wards. We will also be looking to support any applicant's specialist interest.Our team of Elderly Care and Stroke physicians includes 14 consultants. The model of care provided by our Care of the Elderly Service continues to develop and expand. It is an exciting time to be joining our team -with plans to further develop the model of care for frail elderly patients including our services in areas such as Stroke, Frailty, Orthogeriatrics and Parkinson's - we are keen to support the successful candidate in developing their specialist interest.

This includes working to set timescales for the triage of referrals, the completion of discharge summaries prior to patients being discharged, following the specified process for the management of patients that do not attend (DNA) their appointment or admission, and the completion of all paperwork deemed necessary to support the management of their patients within agreed timescales.
