Job summary
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust (UHBWFT) seeks applicants for 12 month Clinical Fellow posts, in Emergency Medicine, at SHO / ST1-2 level to commence August 2022 and for 12 or six month posts to commence February 2023. Posts can be a combination of service provision in Emergency Medicine and paid time in which to develop an area of 'special interest'. Areas of special interest may include, but are not limited to, Global Health Medicine, Simulation, Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Community Emergency Medicine (Pre-Hospital). If an applicant has a particular specialist interest they would like to pursue then we will endeavour to accommodate this. Applicants should outline their motivation for pursuing areas of specialist interest on their application forms (a second choice can also be outlined as competition for specific options is limited).
UHBWFT includes the Emergency Departments (ED) of Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), Bristol Children's Hospital and Weston General Hospital. This post will be based in the adult BRI ED service. The post provides an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a busy inner city university hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Department of Emergency Medicine
"Teamwork in the A&E Department was exceptional. Staff at all levels were committed, motivated and engaged. They worked very well with each other across all job roles and staff grades. They were cohesive and demonstrated excellent teamwork within their department and with other departments" CQC report 2014.

There is 24 hour registrar level cover, within BRI ED, a 24/7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner service, an Emergency Medicine Advanced Clinical Practitioner service and an established physiotherapy practitioner service within the department.
BRI ED is an academic department with an active research programme. The department has a good reputation for teaching and training as evidenced by our recent performance in the GMC Trainee's survey. We include both traditional and modern (SIM, podcasts, e-learning) teaching methods in our teaching programme which Clinical Fellows are given rostered time to attend.
