University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Ortho-geriatric team at the BRI.
The post holder will be responsible for providing care for our elderly trauma and hip fracture patients on the trauma and orthopaedic wards. This is a new joint model of care with the trauma and orthopaedic (T&O) team based on the new Silver Trauma Unit launched 2021.
The post holder will also have the option to spend one month in the High Dependency/Intensive Care Unit managing acutely unwell medical and surgical patients. There will also be opportunity to attend the Bone Health for Older People Clinic (BHOP).
Main duties of the job
Our friendly and dynamic team consists of 3 Ortho-geriatric Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist and involves close working with the Elderly Trauma Specialist Nurse as well as the T&O junior doctors.
The post holder is expected to support the Orthogeriatric service and the T&O junior doctors focusing on the medical aspects of patient care, liaise with the next of kin, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team. There are a minimum of 2 T&O juniors on each ward and 1 for outliers.
