University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
are looking to appoint Consultant Physicians in Acute Medicine with Specialty
Interests, based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).

Health in 2020, the Trust is now 13000 strong with an annual operating budget
of nearly £700 Million.
The BRI acute medical team currently consists of 3 substantive
consultants, who work closely with the emergency department (ED), frailty
service, and other specialties. Whilst the team is relatively small, the Trust
has big plans and a vision for future development of the acute service. This in
mind, UHBW is keen to grow quickly - the successful candidate will join a
highly motivated and driven team all looking to pioneer and advance the
department.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Trust’s vision for developing its acute medicine
services, UHBW has made agreed major investment and change to its model of care.
There is a three year commitment to further expansion and investment in acute medicine
services which offers exciting opportunities in service growth and development
for the successful candidate. The Trust established a Same Day Emergency Care
(SDEC) service, run jointly with the ED in August 2020 and there are ambitious
plans to develop same day emergency care further. You will have a rare
opportunity to influence and shape future services and models of care.
The Trust also welcomes applications from candidates in the

The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) is a major University
Hospital and you will be committed to delivering excellent teaching and
training. The BRI is situated in the city centre, co-located with the regional
centres for Paediatrics, Dental Services, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Head and
Neck Surgery, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology and is adjacent to maternity
services and the University of Bristol.
