Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer the following F2 LAS Doctor (Locum Appointment for Service) rotation at Yeovil District Hospital:
Post 1: Trauma & Orthopaedics / General Medicine & Endocrinology.
This role is fixed term and available from 6th December 2023 to 6th August 2024. Rotations consist of two departments during the eight month placement, working a maximum of 4 months in each specialty. This is in line with national rotation dates set by NHS Employers.
This is a non-training post and therefore not approved by the Deanery for post graduate training. The post holder will, however, receive the same training and experience in line with the existing foundation training Doctors.

Main duties of the job
- Admission, clerking, day to day care and discharge of ward patients as instructed by the Consultants and under the supervision of the registrars. You will review the results of investigations to take appropriate actions and attend ward-rounds.
- To participate in the teaching of F1 Doctors at the bedside as well as to Medical Students.
- To maintain a good working relationship with existing staff members in the hospital.
- To attend other hospitals within the Trust if so requested by the supervising Consultant.
- To participate in audits and current research projects. These are available through individual Consultants.

Qualifications & Training
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent.
- BLS or equivalent.
- Full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practice at time of applying.
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development - willingness to undertake relevant courses.
Desirable
- Studying towards Part I of membership exams.
- Additional degree or equivalent.
- ALS / ACLS or equivalent.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of ability to communicate effectively in written English

- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
- Satisfactory completion / expected satisfactory completion of F1 (or equivalent) by 6th December 2023.
- Training in diagnosis and treatment of general medical conditions.
- Academic and extracurricular achievements.
Desirable
- The applicant should not have been released or removed from foundation training. A letter of support from the postgraduate dean or foundation school director will be required from the foundation programme that the applicant has been removed from.
- The applicant will have practiced continuously as a doctor for the last 12 months. If not, evidence of maintaining clinical knowledge and skills must be provided.
