Job summary

Are you an excellent team player looking for a new challenge where you'll be able to make a difference to patient care?

If so, the Emergency Department at Yeovil District Hospital would like you to apply to join us as a Progress Chaser.

The role is part time, 24 hours per week and the shifts are 9am-6:30pm and 6pm-2am. Unsociable hours and weekend working will come with an enhanced rate of pay which will significantly increase your earnings.

Main duties of the job

You'll be joining a team of 4 other Progress Chasers whose role it is to help facilitate the smooth and timely flow of patients through the department and reduce delays, aiding safe effective discharges and transfers.

Based at the nurse's station in the middle of the department, you'll assist the nursing staff and other health care professionals by tracking each patient throughout their journey through ED to ensure that we are able to meet our targets, whilst delivering safe patient care.

Here's what Albie Ashford, one of our current Progress Chasers had to say about the role: "I've been progress chasing for just over half a year now but have been in A&E for nearly 2 years, I love working in such a dynamic and exciting team, I'm constantly busy which makes the day go fast!! However fully supported. There's never a dull moment in the department, and you will encounter some unique situations that have elevated my confidence, also can't complain about the enhancements!"

This is a unique and challenging role that comes with lots of opportunities to really make a difference to the patient experience. If you are organised and thrive in a busy and dynamic role, this could be the job for you.
