Job summary

Stroke specialist nursing involves being able to assess and manage patients in the emergency department and on the wards by using advanced nursing practice; manage a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support within Stroke services.

Main duties of the job

Assess patient with signs of Acute stroke in the emergency department or the wards. this would include the National Institute of stroke scale.

Be present on consultant ward rounds.

Work closely with the MDT to ensure patients are getting the right interventions.

Referrals to certain teams.

To Maintain effective communication with all patients, carers and members of the team.

To act with in accordance to the trust guidelines and NMC code of professional conduct.
