We are recruiting one Trust Fellow Doctor in Critical Care Medicine to work on our ICU ward in Yeovil, in the South West of England. This post is available from 2nd August 2023 to 6th August 2024, in line with national rotation dates set by NHS Employers.

Benefits of this role:

  • An Educational Supervisor and an Appraiser.
  • You will gain experience in a wide range of ICU practical skills, and patient management.
  • Ring fenced protected time on the rota for Training and Career Development.
  • The rota is staffed in conjunction with other postgraduate doctors in training and clinical teaching fellow doctors.

Those interested in a career in anaesthetics, intensive care, acute medicine, ACCS, or emergency medicine, may find these posts of interest. The posts include a proportion of time ring-fenced for personal development and training. This is approximately 25% of the basic rota pattern. For anaesthetists, this can be time spent in theatre, in training or solo lists as desired, working at a level appropriate to their experience, in order to retain or gain anaesthetic skills. For non anaesthetists, this time can be spent in any part of the hospital where suitable training opportunities can be identified and agreed, in line with the doctor's career aspirations.

The post holder will be required to cover ICU/HDU during daytimes, evenings, nights and weekends, as detailed in the rota.

To participate in audits and current research projects. These are available through individual Consultants. Several research projects are in-progress on the unit.

To attend the active postgraduate programme with weekly lectures, radiology, medical and pathology meetings and medical unit presentations.
