Job summary

Are you an experienced, enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated midwife with excellent communication skills and a strong philosophy of women centred care? If so, we have a an exciting opportunity to join our team of senior midwives as a Labour ward Co-ordinator/Midwifery Clinical Leader.

Main duties of the job

The Labour ward Co-ordinator will have overall responsibility for the daily organisation, effective management and leadership of this diverse and challenging clinical area.

As a midwifery clinical leader you will be an expert and professional role model supporting a wide range of staff to ensure standards are upheld and safety is at the forefront of your work, with responsibility to ensure positive patient experiences.

The Labour Ward Co-ordinators work closely with the senior management team to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care within the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife, Degree in midwifery or health related subject
  • Evidence of mentorship qualification/experience

Desirable

  • NLS trained
  • NIPE trained

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years recent experience in a consultant led unit
  • Expert clinical skills in perineal suturing & cannulation and CTG interpretation
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work load effectively
  • Positive attitude to change and inspires confidence

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Leadership/management training
  • Line / project management experience
