Job summary

This post would suit either a current Band 7 or a highly experienced Band 6 looking to develop their leadership skills.

The post holder will be working with the In Patient therapy teams covering Guildford and Waverley. Work will involve overseeing the delivery of the physiotherapy service to the In Patient wards at Haslemere.

They will be expected to contribute to the on-going development of clinical practice, standards, research, as well as policies, protocols, guidelines and service development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should have previous experience working with complex elderly patients in an inpatient rehab setting, including patients with long term and neurological conditions. You will be expected to work alongside tthe OT team lead within In patient therapy, and across the wider Service as a whole, to promote an efficient, effective and productive rehab pathway from assessment to discharge.

You will need to be able to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to promote innovation and improvement. You must be well organised and an excellent communicator and be willing to work flexibly. Time management skills and the ability to deal with caseload/staff demands are essential.

Applicants must have HCPC registration to be considered for this post and have had experience working within the NHS in a clinical role. You will need to be able to travel independently as you may be required to work between sites.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/ degree leading to inclusion on Health Professions Council Physiotherapy register.
  • Evidence of relevant post registration training.
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.

Desirable

  • Appropriate training at MSc level or equivalent experiential development.

Experience

Essential

  • Good understanding of current workforce issues.
  • Clear understanding of community services, NHS policy and future implications.
  • Understanding of organisational strategies and policies.
  • Knowledge of treating patients with complex co-morbidities.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety and risk management.
  • Post registration experience across a variety clinical areas within the NHS.
  • Experience of working at band 6 level in rehabilitation of older people.
  • Sound knowledge of current issues in the profession and Rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and NICE recommendations/NSF/CQC.
  • Knowledge of current clinical and therapy research.
  • Knowledge of relevant National clinical guidelines and NHS directives.
