The
Royal Surrey welcomes applications for this substantive 10PA Consultant appointment in the Department of
Gynaecological Oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the
UKs most progressive Gynaecological Oncology Centres in Guildford, Surrey.
The
Gynaecological cancer centre is the largest in KSS and one of two
Gynaecological Cancer Centres in the Surrey & Sussex Cancer Alliance (SSCA)
and receives inward referrals for cancer treatment from Surrey, West Sussex and
North Hampshire, as well as sometimes much further afield due to the
departments reputation and experience. There are increasingly close links with
the Sussex MDT based in Brighton with the development of common protocols
across SSCA. The Centre offers a comprehensive range of treatment options on
the one site for all aspects of Gynaecological oncology, including chemotherapy,
radiotherapy and interventional radiology, with an active specialist
gynaecology oncology MDT which the Trusts hosts for the Cancer Alliance. Guildford
is an internationally renowned training centre for minimal access surgery and one
of the largest centres for robotic surgery in the UK. The Gynaecological
oncology team has pioneeried the use of robotics for the management of
endometrial, cervical and ovarian cancers in the UK and has an excellent
reputation for education & training, data analysis & research in this
and other fields. There is close collaboration with surgical oncologists in
allied disciplines.
Main duties of the job
Applicants for this post should have completed an RCOG approved subspecialty training programme in Gynaecological Oncology, hold MRCOG and have completed a higher degree. A track record in service improvement, clinical audit, and either clinical or translational laboratory research is expected.
The centre is recognised for subspeciaty training by the RCOG and is the UK/Eire Epicentre for Robotic Training in Gynaecological Oncology. The subspecialty training posts, which are supported by HEKSS, occur in rotation with the two other subspecialty training centres, in Maidstone and Brighton, in a successful training partnership. There is an ongoing programme of clinical and translational research both at University of Surrey and at Brunel University in the UK, much of which is supported by GRACE charity, with collaborations with other centres and Universities, within the UK and internationally.

- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Gynae-Oncology or CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date
- CCT holder with GO subspecialty accreditation (or within 6 months of gaining CCT with successful recent ARCP Outcome 1)
- BSCCP Accreditation in Colposcopy
