Our Oncology division is looking for a forward thinking
Clinical or Medical Oncology Locum Consultant to join the Royal Surrey to provide Breast and Melamona
expertise to the division.
This
is a fixed-term 10PA post based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, with
clinical commitments at our outreach
partner Frimley Park Hospital. The post holder will provide an Oncology breast service
for the patients in the Frimley catchment area, plus Guildford. The successful candidate will also provide
expertise in Melanoma for the Oncology patients within our region. This role will offer Chemotherapy, plus Radiotherapy expertise
for these patients.
Main duties of the job
To provide Oncology expertise in the management and
treatment of patients with Breast and Melanoma Tumours
To be part of the MDT and clinical team
To be part of the radiotherapy MDT and clinical team
To play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for
Oncology
To provide cover for fellow Consultant colleagues in
respect of periods of leave and organise leave in
conjunction of Consultant colleagues according to Oncology department policy
To take part in medical audit and research as appropriate
To provide expertise for patients, participate in the
local MDTs and training programmes
To participate in clinical trials as
appropriate, in co-operation with the Alliance Research Lead
To ensure that the requirements of
clinical governance are met
To ensure that there are adequate
arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be
able to contact you when necessary
To participate in CME and audit
projects as appropriate

and with support from senior colleagues.
There are close links with the Royal Surrey and Frimley Park Hospital which holds multidisciplinary cancer team
meetings for major tumour types supported by Oncologists based at St. Lukes
Cancer Centre. Both Trusts, as well as providing high quality cancer services,
are busy district general hospitals with accident and emergency departments on
both sites, and full general medical and surgical teams.
The Royal Surrey Hospital Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the St. Lukes Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
