Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, innovative internal candidate, who has previous Physiotherapy Technical Instructor experience, to work on the Older Persons Rehabilitation and Frailty units.

The post will be static within the Older Persons Rehab team, but may be asked to cross cover in other areas such as A&E and EAU as required.

The applicant must have previous experience as a Physiotherapy Technical Instructor within the acute NHS setting.

Candidates require excellent written and spoken English as well as excellent team working skills, adaptability and flexibility.

Main duties of the job

There is a requirement for flexible working as the service operates over 7 days on a rostered pattern as well as some extended working days.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Provide routine Physiotherapy assessment and treatment sessions independently, as directed by team lead. Assist physiotherapy team to deliver a high quality and effective service within the acute hospital, community locations and patients homes.

Assist qualified Physiotherapy staff in delivering a high quality and effective Physiotherapy service to patient.

Treat patients according to department standards/protocols both individually and in group settings.

Complete basic patient assessments independently, as directed by qualified Physiotherapists.

Carry out and progress rehab plans as set by qualified Physiotherapists.

Report back to Physiotherapists on progress of patients.

Ensure the department/physio areas on ward are kept clean and tidy

Stock take and inventory of physiotherapy equipment with Physiotherapy Assistants.

Be willing to rotate to other clinical areas, including off site locations and/or patient homes.

Be an active part of the 7 day working rota as required.

Ensure ward books and stats are up to date.

Be flexible to assist in other teams during times of staff shortage, including teams in community locations.

Attend all relevant training as directed by team lead.

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and experience equivalent to NVQ 3 in a relevant specialty i.e. Health care

  • Successful completion of Physiotherapy Assistant competencies (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working within the NHS.
  • Able to use assessment to create a treatment plan, follow through and discharge a patient autonomously.
