Job summary

Our diverse and inclusive Pharmacy is looking for a self-motivated and forward thinking individual to join our Inpatient Pharmacy dispensary team. We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to help manage and develop our inpatient dispensary services.

You will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills, managing staff, and a keen interest in providing an efficient and high quality service.

Working alongside our existing Lead Dispensary Technician and other pharmacy managers to provide training and development opportunities for staff of all grades, whilst promoting a patient-focused, multidisciplinary approach to ensure the delivery of an efficient and high quality inpatient dispensary service.

We are committed to develop your leadership and management skills and support participation in Mary Seacole or other leadership training.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should:

  • Be able to demonstrate working knowledge of the dispensary and skill to lead a team under the supervision of the Chief Pharmacy Technician Pharmacy Operations

  • Have good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be self-motivated and flexible in your approach to work and meet the requirements for our service.

  • Lead, motivate and supervise a team of registered and support staff.

  • Plan and co-ordinate the dispensary workload, including prioritising activities to respond to changing circumstances, allocating resources where necessary.

  • Ensure training needs of dispensary staff are met in conjunction with the pharmacy education team.

  • Oversee HR management of staff including absence, leave appraisals and 1-2-1 meetings.

You will be required to participate in evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services plus underpinning knowledge from BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or an equivalent accredited qualification.
  • Nationally recognised Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification (ACPT).
  • Experience undertaking patient consultation or completion of a recognised training programme.
  • Registration with the GPhC.

Desirable

  • Accredited NVQ Assessor Scheme (A1) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Appointing Officer training.
  • Successful completion of Regional Medicines Management Accreditation or an equivalent accredited qualification.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) Facilitator.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of Pharmacy practice.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Demonstrate training experience.

Desirable

  • Experience in pharmacy stock control systems.
  • Understanding of maintaining accurate computerised stock control.
  • Experience working with robotics.
  • Previous participation in project work.
  • Experience in implementing changes.
  • Experience in procedure writing.
  • Previous experience of JAC.
  • Previous experience of the pharmacy tracker system (PTS).
