Job summary

A part-time opportunity has arisen to join our Dietetics Department at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term for 12 months to be a part of our Nutrition Support and ICU Teams.

We are looking for somebody with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be working alongside our multi-disciplinary team of dietitians, pharmacists, gastroenterologists, specialist nurses, and biochemists. This post is shared across delivering the nutritional element of the nutrition support service for patients at The Royal Surrey Hospital and supporting patients on ICU. You will also be involved in delivering education sessions to healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

You will join a forward thinking dietetic team which undertakes the training of A, B and C placement students, and also focuses on research and audit in its areas of activity to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care. You will be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, with the chance to shadow and learn from specialist dietitians.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist dietetic care to patients seen by the Nutrition Support Team (NST) on Parenteral nutrition (PN) and to critically ill patients on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The post holder will be an integral part of the NST and ICU dietetic team to provide a nutrition and dietetic service for inpatients receiving Parenteral Nutrition and for patients referred on ICU. The post holder will support the Specialist ICU and NST Dietitians with critical care patients in ICU and higher dependency areas, and provide dietetic input to the Trusts Nutrition Support Team and attend inpatient ward rounds, and associated meetings (including regular MDT meetings). The post holder will act as a resource in Parenteral Nutrition Support for other Health Professionals in the Royal Surrey and surrounding Healthcare Units
