An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Surgical Division at the Royal Surrey Hospital as the Specialty Manager for the Maxillofacial, Orthodontic, ENT & Audiovestibular Medicine surgical business unit. We are seeking an exceptional candidate with extensive knowledge and experience of service delivery within a challenging, yet very rewarding, acute hospital environment.
This Specialty Manager post is a key position within the Divisions management structure, responsible for providing day-to-day operational management and support across the respective clinical services, in addition to leading jointly with clinical leads a large amount of service transformation and networked working with other local district general and teaching hospitals.
Main duties of the job
You will possess demonstrable organisational skills with an ability to manage, prioritise and delegate in order to meet tight timelines of delivery. An excellent communicator, you will have the ability to effectively liaise with, and influence, clinical and non-clinical staff groups in order to optimise service delivery and patient experience.
This is both a challenging and rewarding time to join the division. This post is an opportunity to lead on service level projects, redesigning workflows and processes to support elective recovery. To deliver these changes, you will need experience of working within a multi-professional team and of working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. You will need to have a strong commitment to improving services whilst remaining passionate about quality and safety. You will have a proven track record of successful operational management experience, and will demonstrate a high standard of communication and organisational skills. There will be many opportunities to assist with Division wide service improvement projects.
Above all, the post holder will show proficiency for working closely with clinical teams to ensure the efficient delivery of high quality care across outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
Informal discussions are strongly encouraged. Please contact Rebecca Palm Head of Service for Surgery to arrange a call via email rebecca.palm1@nhs.net
