We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, flexible and highly motivated individual who enjoys working independently and within a team.A successful candidate will;o Be currently working within Royal Surrey County Hospital Theatreso Be a registered Nurse or ODP with a valid NMC or HCPC registrationo Have experience with Mentoringo Provide evidence of ongoing professional developmento Have a minimum of two years post registration, and two years of anaesthetic practiceo Have proven experience of leading a team and supporting the department in and out of hours

Main duties of the job

You should be a registered qualified Operating Department Practitioner or qualified Anaesthetic Nurse. You should hold a mentorship qualification or be a Practice Assessor and have evidence of further study. Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills are essential for this role.

It will be your responsibility to:

Coordinate day to day supervision and monitoring of students, reporting to the Theatres Practice Development Lead regularly. Coordinate assessment activity and organise practice based tutorial sessions. Develop and enhance the quality of the learning environment to meet HCPC and NMC requirements. Positively influence the quality of learner experience, be accessible to students. Facilitate links between Higher Education Institutions, including regular attendance at Programme Management Team meetings.

The Theatre Department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital is a busy, multi-specialty unit committed to delivering a high standard of care. We are the regional referral centre for Upper GI Surgery, including emergency Oesophagogastric cases. We are leaders in Major Laparoscopic Surgery & Robotic Surgery with the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit - an internationally recognised centre of excellence created for the teaching of innovative laparoscopic surgical techniques. Other specialties include: Colorectal, Urology, Gynae Oncology, Hepatobiliary, and Upper GI, Breast Surgery, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics, Major Head and Neck and ENT, Trauma & Orthopaedics and CEPOD. Day Surgery is a purpose built unit covering many specialities including ENT, Maxillo Facial, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmics, Pain and dedicated Paediatric lists.

In addition to this, the Trust offers a wide range of staff benefits including support through occupational health services, a staff gym, a cycle to work scheme and a social club.

The Trust is based in Guildford the historic county town of Surrey and has a range of attractions and cosmopolitan town centre shopping. The town also has easy access to London and its main airports by road or train.
