Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Frailty Team for a highly skilled secretary to join our administrative team. We are seeking individuals with medical secretarial experience, ideally in a hospital or clinical setting, who can effectively work both within a team and independently.As part of our dynamic team, you will play a key role in supporting both administrative and clinical staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Main duties of the job

To provide a full range of medical secretarial services to consultants and their team within the Integrated Frailty SBU both at Milford Community Hospital and the acute trust Royal Surrey Hospital.

  • oGood general standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including English

Desirable

  • oRSA II or equivalent in word processing/audio typing
  • oRSA III, Medical secretarial qualification (BSMS Certificate) or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential

  • oDemonstrates the ability to prioritise workload and to adapt effectively to changing priorities
  • oEvidence of establishing and maintaining effective filing systems
  • oExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • oExcellent telephone manner
  • oExcellent spelling and grammar

Desirable

  • oWorking knowledge of the Trust Patient Administration System (Cerner) (*)
  • oAdvanced keyboard and audio typing skills o Working knowledge of Word, email and internet
  • oWorking knowledge of a range of software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and locally used data bases e.g. ICE
  • oKnowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • oBroad knowledge of medical terminology
