Job summary

We have an opportunity for you to join our dynamic physiotherapy team, working on the sub-acute ortho-geriatric and frailty wards as a physiotherapy assistant.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, health care assistants, doctors, discharge co-ordinators and pharmacists

Experience in healthcare or rehabilitation would be an advantage, however we would welcome someone who is enthusiastic, has a strong desire to learn and is keen to work with the physiotherapy team to provide an excellent service. We are looking for someone who likes working with people, has good communication and organisational skills and is an excellent team worker.

Main duties of the job

You will be a key member of the physiotherapy team and will work under supervision and guidance of trained physiotherapists and the therapy assistant practitioner, to provide exercise and mobility rehabilitation, and assist with administrative tasks and information gathering,

Full training will be provided to ensure you are supported and a competency framework will be used to ensure you have the appropriate skills to assist with physiotherapy treatments. We offer regular formal and informal supervision, and in house training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • English Language and Maths qualification at GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable

  • Formal qualification in relevant subject e.g. City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 Or 200 hours of relevant in-service training/education

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of ability to vary treatment programmes within set protocols following communication with the referring Therapist
  • Awareness of current health issues
  • Understanding of how to maintain privacy and dignity of patients
  • Previous experience of working within a health care setting and direct dealing with patients' clinical needs and relevant general experience
  • Evidence of ability to manage own caseload/workload
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team-working

  • Knowledge of therapy equipment (e.g. mobility aids and functional equipment)
  • Experience in running group activities or exercise class.
  • Experience of working in rehabilitation or as part of a multidisciplinary team
