Job summary

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will be a valuable member of a successful electronic and medical engineering (EME) team who will build on their basic skills and education to be able to perform electrical safety testing (EST) and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) under the direction of the EME workshop manager

Main duties of the job

The role calls for someone from an electronics/instrumentation engineering background and as such the post holder will require an understanding across a range of technologies and serviced that are covered by the EME team.

Engagement with third party vendors to identify suitable spares and materials to support maintenance and repair of medical equipment.

The ability to learn about new technologies in a dynamic working environment and to effectively follow policies and procedures.

Travel to other sites will be required as part of this role.

Job responsibilities

The Role:

The post holder will be a valuable member of a successful electronic medical equipment (EME) team who will build on their basic skills and education to be able to perform electrical safety testing (EST) and some planned preventative maintenance (PPM) under the direction of the EME workshop supervisor.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Trainee Engineer to join a dynamic team of engineers providing a comprehensive repair, maintenance and service to a range of healthcare providers.

The Trainee Engineer will have a good grounding in electrical and electronic systems. Full manufacturer training will be provided to enable the individuals to work independently.

Job Duties:

Proactive monitoring to ensure maximum uptime, reporting any downtime in a timely manner to the Head of Medical Engineering

  • Undertake audits on medical devices
  • Undertake electrical safety testing (EST) across a range of medical devices
  • Take part in the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program
  • The post holder must be able to move and carry equipment in excess of 20Kg
  • Keep accurate records and update any work carried out by the post holder in e-Quip
  • Documentation of processes for use across EME departments by both technical and non-technical personnel

Competencies:

Knowledge of BS62353 (2008): Medical electrical equipment - Recurrent test and test after repair of medical electrical equipment.

The ability to learn about new technologies in a dynamic working environment

knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering, precision electro-mechanical and computer systems.

Qualifications:

HNC / HND level education, equivalent professional qualifications or relevant experience of operating at this level

Professional Registration

EME NHS experience

Additional specialist knowledge acquired through Manufacture training or equivalent experience

Experience of use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, excel, outlook

Experience of working in the patient environment
