Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Trust Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Fixed term posts are available for 6 or 12 months. Dental graduates with experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at DCT or DFT level or Medical Graduates and dual qualified (medical & dental graduates) are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have hospital experience within a surgical speciality at FY2, ST1/2 level. The post is aimed at a doctor or dentist who wishes to gain valuable experience of the management of patients with varied conditions of the face, mouth and neck, inclduing skin cancer (mltiple lists each week), facial trauma, oral medicine, benign salivary gland disease and the management of oral and salivary gland cancer and complex jaw deformity.
The successful candidate will need to be available to start as soon as possible upon completion of pre-employment checks.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied and interesting job in which the post holder will take part in theatre sessions outpatient clinics and minor operative procedures under local anaesthetic. The post holder will also be expected to assist in the day-to-day care of patients on the ward. This will entail some clerking, preparation of operating lists and attendance on the daily ward round.
