Job summary

Junior Trust practitioner post in Medicine based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust until December 2024. These posts are not Deanery approved training posts, although the posts provide FY1 level experience. Post holders will be expected to work at foundation level in the inpatient specialty teams and will contribute to the emergency and out of hours FY1 rotas in medicine.

Main duties of the job

develop clinical skills, including the assessment and management of acutely ill medical and surgical patients on the wards, and acute admission areas in A&E and EAU

follow patients through their clinical pathways, contributing to ongoing management of medical and surgical patients including care for patients with long term conditions

maintain accurate clinical records including timely completion of discharge summaries, and administrative tasks essential for efficient patient management

work with ward based multi-professional teams to deliver inpatient care and facilitate timely patient discharge

improve all aspects of communication with patients, carers and staff members working within multi-disciplinary teams and primary care

develop knowledge of hospital systems and clinical governance, keeping accurate records

develop teaching and presentation skills

improve competencies in IT skills and critical use of evidence and data

As part of the trusts junior medical team the junior Trust practitioners will work across all clinical specialties, in adult medicine and surgery, and a degree of flexibility is required.

This job would be suitable for qualified medical graduates with full GMC registration including junior doctors who have worked outside the UK but have no prior experience of working in the NHS. Overseas Candidates scheduled to graduate from a six year medical degree prior to the start date who are due to complete their final MB BS after the interview date may be considered for shortlisting subject to a letter of recommendation from the medical school dean and submission of a summary of examination progress to date.
