Job summary
The Oncology division is looking for a forward thinking Medical Oncology Locum Consultant to join the Royal Surrey for 3 months to provide Gastrointestinal Tumour expertise to the Oncology division. The post holder will provide the Gastrointestinal service for the patients attending the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust. This post consists of 8 PAs and is based at the Guildford site.
The Royal Surrey Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Here at the Cancer Centre, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff. You will be joining our team of 28 oncologists, supported by a team of Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP's and Specialist Nurses.
Main duties of the job
To provide Oncology expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Gastrointestinal Tumours.
To be part of the MDT and clinical team
To be part of the radiotherapy MDT and clinical team
To play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for Oncology
To provide cover for fellow Consultant colleagues in respect of periods of leave and organise leave in conjunction of Consultant colleagues according to Oncology department policy.
To take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
