Job summary
The Oncology division is looking for a forward thinking Medical Oncology Consultant to join the Royal Surrey to provide Head and Neck and Lung tumour expertise to the Oncology division. The post holder will provide the lung service for the patients in the catchment of our outreach partner- Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, and Head and Neck cancer service at the Royal Surrey Hospital.
This post consists of 10PAs and the post is based at Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, but will require regular travel to Frimley Park Hospital. We welcome applicants who have experience in advanced radiotherapy; such as stereotactic, and would like to develop their expertise in this area.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Main duties of the job
To provide Oncology expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Lung and Head and Neck Tumours,
To be part of the MDT and clinical team
To be part of the radiotherapy MDT and clinical team
To play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for Oncology
To take part in the Inpatient Consultant of the week (COW) duty rota.
To provide cover for fellow Consultant colleagues in respect of periods of leave and organise leave in conjunction of Consultant colleagues according to Oncology department policy.
To take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.

This is a 10 PA post for a Medical Consultant Oncologist, with a specialist interest in Lung and Head and Neck Tumours. The post is based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust as well as our satellite site at Frimley Park Hospital.
The remit of the consultant post is to work with colleagues to provide a Lung and Head and Neck oncology service. The post holder will provide the oncology service for the patients in the catchment of our outreach partner- Frimley Park Hospital. This role will offer Chemotherapy and systemic therapy expertise for these patients.
This remit for the post will require a well-organised individual with good team-working skills and the ability to complete work within agreed timescales in co-operation with all staff groups and with support from senior colleagues.
Here at the cancer Centre, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff. - Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology (or relevant specialty) via: oCCT (CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date) oPortfolio Pathway (previously CESR)

- Higher medical qualification
- Recent experience of Oncology care
- Relevant experience of management of Oncological emergencies
- Broad oncology experience in a variety of tumor sites
