Job summary

We are looking for a highly ambitious and motivated individual to join the Royal Surrey Finance team. As a management accountant, you will work within the finance business partnering team who provide an excellent outward facing finance business partnering service to the clinical and operational teams.

This role is suited to those looking to begin/pursue a career in NHS finance. The role comes with an excellent study package for those looking to work toward a professional accounting qualification and offers career development opportunities.

The finance team are a Level 1 Future Focused Finance accredited and CPD provider. We are also a CIMA accredited provider.

Main duties of the job

o To support the Finance team in the delivery of an outward facing, high quality, efficient and professional financial business partnering service.

o To provide accounting and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

o To provide financial information that is timely, robust and accurate and to be able to explain, discuss, recommend and prioritise required actions to budget managers.

o To provide high quality tools, information and data to enable budget managers to effectively and efficiently manage budgets and to support development of strategies to improve financial performance.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide accounting and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues and to support the SBU and Divisional Management teams by providing financial input into strategic decision making, ensuring the continuous development of financial information and integrating new sources of information.

To support the Finance team with a particular focus on using the ledger to produce information. Works within Finance Department policies and procedures to agreed timetables and will be expected to seek advice to deal with ad hoc tasks.

To contribute to the annual budget setting/financial planning process

- To assist with the calculation of the annual budgets for a range of cost centres in accordance with agreed principles and timetables and to be responsible for their input into the Finance Systems.- to work with budget holders and managers to identify cost pressures, service developments and cost improvements- to ensure that the budgets are agreed by the Service managers/budget holders and are within the Divisions control total.

To upload journals to the Finance system to adjust actuals or budgets as required. Perform regular central tasks on behalf of the wider Finance team.

To assist in the production of forecasts, uploading data into the Forecasting system.

Ensure that reconciliations of financial ledger and budget system are completed in a timely manner.

  • 2 A Levels or AAT level 3 qualified
  • 5 GCSE including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
