Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity within the Pharmacy department for an enthusiastic and motivated assistant to join our busy team.

The role is will involve working within the Main Inpatient Dispensary

Within the Inpatient Dispensary you will work alongside our multi-disciplinary team to provide an excellent service to the patients and wards both at the Royal Surrey and other outside hospital.

In this role, you will work towards achieving an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (if not already achieved) or equivalent qualification. Ideally you should have GCSE Mathematics and English, grade C or above for this post (proof of which will be required at interview).

If you have an eye for detail, excellent communication skills and desire to work within a friendly team this job is for you.

Interviews will take place face to face only.

Main duties of the job

You will be trained in a wide variety of duties within the dispensary,including dispensing inpatient prescriptions, provide a ward top-up service to your own allocated ward and dealing with patients and staff on a regular basis.

The Pharmacy Dispensary and Store provides pharmaceutical services to 580 inpatient beds at the RSCH, Outpatient Clinics and Day Cases including The Childrens Unit and St Lukes Cancer Centre, and external hospitals including Milford and Haslemere.

  • Responsible for a top-up service to allocated wards on a weekly basis and provide cover to other wards when needed.
