Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Junior Trust Practitioner to join the Oncology team at St Lukes Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital.
Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council and have competencies to work at FY2/ST 1-2 level. The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Surrey in Guildford on the Oncology specific ward looking after the acutely unwell patients under our care. The SHO will be supported by the lead consultant for the ward, and will be responsible for the admission and ongoing care of patients. You will provide diagnosis and treatment for all patients, order and organise such tests as are appropriate. Completion of discharge summaries and communicate with GPs and other clinical colleagues will also be required.
This is a permanent post. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.
The Royal Surrey Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the St. Lukes Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work as part of the wider oncology team, including the Oncology consultants, nursing team, acute oncology team and physician associate.
