Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within the Infection Prevention and Control Team. Your role will be to provide high standards of administration and clerical services for the Infection, Prevention and Control Team.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
- The ability to work under pressure often with very short deadlines
- Competence to manage their own workload
- Advanced knowledge and utilisation of IT programmes e.g. word, excel, powerpoint
- Excellent attention to detail
Interviews will be face to face - with no opportunity for a remote interview as there will be a test as part of the interview process.
Main duties of the job
The Infection Prevention and Control department provides a crucial and pivotal service within the Trust, with responsibility for monitoring and advising in the control of healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) to all departments and service users within the Trust.

- The Infection Prevention and Control team works with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) and Consultant Microbiologist/Infection Control Doctor directly to the hospital executive board, and with the Site Nurse Practitioners, Matrons and senior clinical nurse managers on matters of isolation and management of infected patients.
- Infection control good practice is disseminated, particularly in the front line areas, through a variety of ways, including a system of IC Link Reps, promotional days / material and role modelling.
To provide an efficient and confidential administration to support the Infection prevention and Control Team by:
- Undertaking clerical and administrative duties / support to the Infection Prevention and Control Team.
- Giving timely and accurate communication to facilitate effective team functioning.
- Being the first point of contact for service users.

- oEvidence of a good standard of general education to a minimum of A level or NVQ Level 3 or BTEC and secretarial qualification or equivalent level of experience / knowledge
- oEvidence of recent updating and development
Knowledge & Experience

- oClear understanding and application of the principles of professional accountability and confidentiality within specialist field.
- oUnderstanding of multi-disciplinary working
- oNeed for confidentiality at all times

- oExperience of undertaking audits including provision of action plans and monitoring completion.
