Job summary

Are you in the catering trade? Had enough of late nights and split shifts, why not come and work in a hospital environment no more late night finishes.

Come and join our team working for the NHS with good rates of pay including weekend enhancements along with holiday pay and pension system.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our small team in the catering department helping prepare meals for patients and staff.

The successful candidates will have experience of working within the catering industry working in a kitchen preparing meals serving customers. This not essential as training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

To assist a high quality catering services to staff patients and visitor you will be part of a well-established team preparing quality food liaising daily with team leader / supervisor and managers to ensure a first class catering service is provided to all patients' staff and visitors.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Production of meals for patient staff and visitors / Assisting the manager with menu planning.
  2. Check meals for quality, texture, appearance, notifying team leader/supervisor for correcting problems as appropriate
  3. Ensuring that correct hygiene working methods are observed at all times with particular attention to the separation of raw and cooked foods
  4. Ensuring food delivered and received meet with the Departments policy on standards and quality, by undertaking physical checks and temperature probing of all appropriate foodstuffs
  5. Ensuring that relevant paperwork is completed timeously, for example HACCP fridge/freezer temperatures
  6. Ensuring work patterns and production schedules are observed and notifying you manager where deviations to accepted limits are experienced. Assisting with Rostas and holiday cove
  7. Maintain high standards of personal care at all times
  8. Assisting in the development of quality standards.
  9. Working in a clean tidy manner cleaning as you go
  10. Assisting with the cleaning of premises and equipment, using the dishwasher where appropriate
  11. Adhering to the colour coding policies
  12. Serving on the dining room service counter as required using the till and cashing up at the end of the shif
  13. Ensuring correct, economical and safe use of materials and equipment
  14. Ensuring equipment is kept clean and in good working order, inspecting it on a regular basis
  15. Reporting mechanical and other defects to management timeously
  16. Wear the uniform provided and personal protective equipment as specified
  17. Carry out such other duties as may be required, which fall within the grading of this post
  18. Touch point cleanin
  19. Putting stores away and making sure stock is rotated / Stock taking when needed
  20. Correct labelling of food with dates and allergens

  • Good basic education - reading and writing, plus basic numeric skills.
  • Knowledge of various catering tasks and the ability to perform manual catering tasks.
